4 Simple Shifts to End Overwhelm & Create Optimism

4 Simple Shifts to End Overwhelm & Create Optimism
If stress and overwhelm currently rule your life, kicking those feelings to the curb is not as difficult as you think. Here are 4 simple shifts you can make that will end chronic overwhelm and generate ongoing optimism. Life is fast paced and crazy at the best of times, but it is VERY important to stay grounded and not get caught up in the chaos. The key to staying grounded is to begin noticing your general awareness and how you relate to the world around you. You can't control what happens, but you can absolutely control how you think, feel and act about those things happening, and you can control the kinds of things you put your attention to. Always remember this:

Energy Flows where Focus Goes and Results Show

Start noticing what you're noticing and what you're doing.

Start noticing what you do each day and why you are doing it. Do you only notice problems and limitations, or do you also see opportunities? Are you going through the motions of life without even paying attention, or do you take time to really be mindful and find pleasure in simple tasks and silly moments? Are you doing things you don’t enjoy because you’re obligated to them, or do you fill your time and spend your energy doing things that give you joy and a feeling of purpose?

Life is too short to waste time on things that aren’t important to us, but most people spend way more time and energy doing things they feel they MUST do, which leaves them little time to do what they would LOVE doing. If you find yourself unhappy or unfulfilled, it is a sign from the universe suggesting you are ready for a change. Start exploring ways you can spend more time doing things that engage and excite you. Spend time daily doing something that brings you joy. As you go about your life, notice more good, find small miracles and take in the beauty of simply being alive.

Be generous and giving of your time, talents and treasure, but don't overdo it.

Being generous and giving to other people is a great way to feel better and ties in with living a purposeful life.  The law of Vibration states that everything in the universe is in a constant state of movement. Every. Single. Thing. in the universe is in a state of movement and the speed or rate at which something vibrates is called its frequency. Your emotional states dictate the vibration that your body is in. And, to a large extent, these vibrations dictate how you experience life because they set up resonance with anything that is on the same frequency. The higher your vibration, the easier it is to be a match for higher vibration living.

Being a generous, giving person keeps you in a state of flow and purpose, more tune with your own life and can help you have more sense of direction. Sharing your time, talents and treasure can also create feelings of personal joy, confidence and a positive sense of self. Instead of feeling reactive and powerless about the world, by helping others, you are being proactive and expending positive, high vibration energy into the universe that will flow back to you in positive ways and lead you to bigger and better things in life. That being said, make sure you set boundaries and don't take on more than you can comfortably handle. Your own well-being is more important and you can't help anybody if you don't take care of yourself first.

Approach Life with Curiosity and a Child-like sense of Wonder.

Have you ever been around a child between the ages of 2-10? They are SO curious about EVERYTHING! As we get older, sadly most of our natural curiosity seeps away in the midst of too much structure and too many senseless rules. Decide now that you are going to rekindle your curiosity! We are never too old to learn something new. Learning keeps your mind sharp and healthy longer than if you stagnate and don’t engage your thinking.  Start looking at life as a great adventure and learn something new each day. In doing so, it’ll keep your mind sharp and healthy and you’ll feel more vibrant and connected to a higher source.

We lead busy lives, but every day is a chance to change a dull routine. Strive to begin focusing on your interests and begin to pay attention to what you feel drawn to do. Take the time to be curious and delve into learning as much as you can!  Instead of reacting mindlessly to a situation that seems difficult, stop and get curious about why you are about to react that way. Try to look at the situation in a different light, or someone else's view.  By stopping and just being curious and allowing other possibilities to enter your mind, you are shifting your frequency to a higher one. Higher frequencies that vibrate from hope, optimism and enthusiasm are more in tune with happiness and the 1st Rate Lifestyle you are creating.

Live in a constant state of gratitude
The mind is a powerful thing and when we decide to be grateful for everything, we can learn to approach life with a more positive mindset. The only true power any of us has is our attitude and the way we react to our circumstances. You can find a way to look at any situation in a positive frame of mind, even the most tragic, if you choose to. For example, instead of looking at losing your job as a terrible thing, consider the opportunities you are now free to pursue and be grateful for the freedom you now have. Instead of being devastated by a break-up, acknowledge that at this time, the two of you are better off going separate ways, and be grateful that the relationship ended so you now have the time to fall in love with yourself and become the best person you can be instead of staying in a relationship that limits your potential.

Create a daily practice of taking time to appreciate everything around you and all the abundance you have in your life. When you pay your bills, feel gratitude for the income you have and for the source of that income. When you are walking outside, pay attention to your senses. Smell the air, listen to the birds sing, feel the heat of the sun on your skin. Revel in the awesomeness of nature and the miracle of all life.  As you consistently practice gratitude, it soon will become second nature, which will improve your quality of life on all levels. Choosing gratitude will absolutely enhance the quality of your life. As you rewire your way of thinking, you will notice more things to be grateful for, which will create even more reasons to be grateful!
